Hello everyone! Welcome to the first video of the year. I’m Kradeciov and this is the Top 5 video games you should definitely play in 2023.

Of course, a top 5 is never enough to showcase all the amazing games coming out this year. That’s why this list focuses on titles that bring something innovative to the table—whether in gameplay, visuals, storytelling, or design. I’ve chosen games that stand out for their originality, while also being accessible to all gamers, either because of their price, availability across multiple platforms, or low system requirements on PC.

Let's go there!

Portada Top 5 videojeugos 2023

05 | Assassin’s Creed Mirage (Xbox Series | PS5 | PC | Previous Gen Consoles)

We kick off the list with the legendary saga of the Assassins. And you may ask—why is it in 5th place? Well, because as much as we love Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft still has that reputation for bugs… Bugisoft, after all. On top of that, there’s no confirmed release date, only a broad “2023 window.”

This time we step into the shoes of young Basim, the master assassin we first met in AC Valhalla. Set in the ancient city of Baghdad in the 9th century, this entry promises to bring back the classic elements fans adored in the early games: parkour, urban stealth, and a straightforward but immersive story. Expect fast-paced combat heavily tied to agile movements and extreme parkour.

“We work in the dark, to serve the light.”

Assasins Creed Mirage

04 | Diablo IV (PC Battle.net)

“My life for Nerz—oh wait! No, not that one. Death consumes all.

On June 6th, one of the most anticipated releases of the decade arrives: Diablo IV. Pre-orders are already live with three different editions, each offering exclusive goodies across Blizzard’s titles.

This time the story takes us into the depths of Hell itself to face Lilith, who returns from eternal banishment to bring annihilation to all creation. A brand-new world, player choices that reshape the map, next-level graphics, and the promise of the longest and darkest storyline in the franchise.

Fans hope Diablo IV will restore Blizzard’s glory days, delivering a rich RPG with both new and returning classes, plus a story that dives deeper than ever into the eternal conflict of Order vs. Chaos.

03 | FINAL FANTASY XVI (PS5)

“The legacy of the crystals has shaped humanity’s destiny for far too long.”

Thirteen years we’ve waited—for revenge, for resolution. In this new entry from Square Enix we play as Clive Rosfield, the First Shield of Rosaria and protector of his younger brother Joshua. After tragedy strikes, Clive embarks on a journey that will shape the fate of their world.

The story focuses on Eikons, powerful beings with colossal abilities reminiscent of Soulsborne bosses, and takes place in a semi-open world with fluid action combat and breathtaking visuals. Exclusivity on PS5 may limit its reach, but what it lacks in platforms it makes up for in ambition.

Set for release on June 22nd, 2023, Final Fantasy XVI is already one of the most anticipated RPGs of the year.

Final Fantasy XVI

Skulls and Bones (PS5 | Xbox Series | PC)

“Yo-ho, yo-ho! A pirate’s life for me!”

The second Ubisoft game on this list, and one that’s been in development for almost 20 years. Born from the naval combat system in Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag, Skull and Bones finally sets sail on March 9th, 2023.

This game is 100% about naval warfare with an impressive difficulty curve. You’ll grow into your own pirate legend in a constantly changing online world. Choose whether to play purely PvE, PvPvE, or mix and match as you raid, build alliances, conquer seas, and develop your base and ship until you become king of the oceans.

It has all the ingredients for a Game of the Year nomination.

Skull and Bones

Before continuing, here are the games that could have been on this list, but were narrowly missed due to lack of information or innovation. F in the chat.

  • Starfield (Mid-2023 | Xbox Series | PC)

  • Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (March 17 | PS5 | Xbox Series | PC)

  • The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (December 5 | Nintendo Switch)

  • The Lords of the Fallen (Late 2023 | PS5 | Xbox Series | PC)

  • Sons of the Forest (February 23 | PC)

  • Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (Mid-2023 | PS5)

Hogwarts Legacy (Xbox Series | PS5 | PC | Nintendo Switch | Consolas Gen anterior)

“Las artes oscuras parecen inofensivas, hasta que es demasiado tarde”

“Dark Arts seem harmless… until it’s too late.”

Let’s dive into the Wizarding World—two centuries before the Harry Potter saga. In Hogwarts Legacy you become a student in the 1800s, uncovering dark secrets hidden within the castle and beyond.

This is a fully open-world RPG, with skill specializations ranging from potions and artifacts to spells and curses. You’ll soar on Hippogriffs, Thestrals, and brooms, battle trolls, dark wizards, goblins, and beasts straight from nightmares.

You’re not just a student—you’re the keeper of an ancient secret that could tear apart the magical world. With exploration, combat, customization, and one of the most ambitious RPG worlds ever, this game is easily one of the biggest contenders for Game of the Year.

The legend of Hogwarts is yours to write. Create your own legacy.
